New Westminster’s Raquel Tjernagel achieved a nice first as one of a large contingent of University of Texas track athletes who were named to the Big 12 Conference’s All-Big Academic team.
Tjernagel was a member of Texas’ distance medley relay squad that finished third at both the Texas Invitational and Clyde Littlefield Texas relay meets, after posting a similar result at the Big 12 indoor championships. She earned her way on to the All-Big team while majoring in health promotion.
A sophomore with the Longhorns, 19-year-old Tjernagel is a product of the Coquitlam Cheetahs.
