Shuttlesport Club member Nathan Choi was a big winner at a rankingAlberta badminton event held at Mount Royal University last weekend.

Choi, at 18 years of age and the youngest member of the Shuttlesport/ Douglas College team, won both doubles events he entered. Choi teamed up with Charmagne Yeung to win the mixed doubles in his first senior event. He then paired with Shuttlesport teammate Alvin Lau to win the men's doubles by defeating clubmates Logan Campbell and Luo Wei in three very close games 23-21, 20-22, 21-16.

Earlier Lau, continued his comeback in the singles event, reaching the final before losing to Calgary's Joseph Donaldson in three sets.

Yeung and Laura Tacon reached the semi-final of the women's doubles before losing to Charmaine Reid and Kyleigh O'Donaghue 1021, 15-21.

Bob Sharma also reached the men's semi-finals before losing to Lau in three close games.

"I was very pleased with the team's effort and performance over the weekend," said head coach Al Mawani.
