Jon Cornish of the Calgary Stampeders was named a West Division nominee for two Canadian Football League awards.
Cornish, who broke Normie Kwong's 56-yearold Canadian single-season rushing record last week, was chosen as the west's nominee for Most Outstanding Player and the top Canadian.
The New Westminster back topped the league in rushing this season with 1,457 yards on the ground.
Cornish is up against Toronto Argonauts receiver Chad Owens, who had 94 catches for 1,328 yards and six touchdowns this season, for most outstanding player.
He will face former University of B.C. linebacker Shea Emry for top Canadian player.
Only two Canadians have ever been named the CFL's most outstanding player.
The last time it happened was when Ottawa Rough Riders tight end Tony Gabriel won the award in 1978.
Ottawa quarterback Russ Jackson did it three times in the 1960s, taking the top award in 1963, '66 and '69.
Cornish was also selected to the all-west all-star team at running back.
