Stamp helps Calgary to rush lead

New Westminster's Jon Cornish rushed for 44 yards in the Calgary Stampeders' 30-20 win over Alberta rival Edmonton Eskimos in CFL play on Sept. 9.

Cornish's 236-yard total to date has helped loft the Stamps into top spot in overall league rushing yardage with 1,054 total yards.

The St. Thomas More Collegiate grad and former B.C. Secondary School player of the year, also caught two passes for 46 yards, with the longest reception a 34-yard gainer.

Cornish has made 12 catches for 184 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per reception.

Cornish also shares the team lead with 10 tackles on special teams and 123 combined return yards.

The win propelled the 7-3 Stampeders back into first place in the CFL's West Division and extended their win streak on the road to five games.
