Dusan Mitrovic and Nikos Papakyriakopoulos, both of New Westminster, were welcomed into the Whitecaps fold Monday with the announcement of the Whitecaps FC new residency program players list.

Burnaby's Alessandro Hojabrpour was also among the 17 new players, including five from the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club, unveiled for the under-13 boys program, which is open to players born in 2000 and 2001.

Also named to the program were fellow CMF players Trevor Schneider and Trevor Zanatta from Coquitlam, along with Port Moody Soccer Club's Nikolas White.

"We're really excited to bring in a very talented, young group," said Richard Grootscholten, Whitecaps FC residency technical director and head coach. "To have these players in now with several months of training during summer weather will be very beneficial."

The selection process for players included extensive scouting by Whitecaps FC coaching staff, prospects programming and final evaluations through player combines during the year.
