Burnaby superstar striker Christine Sinclair was at her international best in a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss to the United States in the women's soccer football semifinal at the London Olympics on Monday.
Sinclair scored all three goals for Canada, including the only goal of the first half and the 3-2 go-ahead marker in the 73rd minute, the 143rd of her storied international career.
Alex Morgan of the U.S. scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of stoppage time in the second period of extra time on a brilliant header just moments after American Abby Wambach had nailed a shot off the Canadian's post.
The goal was a climax to an incredible effort by Canada and arguably Sinclair's finest-ever moment as an international.
The South Burnaby product currently leads the Olympic competition with six goals in five matches.
U.S.A. will play reigning World Cup champion Japan for the gold medal, while Canada will match up against France in the bronze-medal game on Thursday.
France lost the other semifinal 2-1 to Japan.
