Simon Fraser University senior Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe was named a second team All-American in women's basketball on March 22.

Raincock-Ekunwe, the Great Northwest conference player of the year, was also named a first team all-star following SFU's loss in the Sweet 16 at the NCAA national Division II tournament last week.

The 6-2 Clan forward led the NCAA Div. II with 65plus per cent field goal shooting this season.

Raincock-Ekunwe averaged better than a double-double this season, with 16.8 points and 12.4 rebounds per game.

Despite just three seasons in the Great Northwest conference, Raincock-Ekunwe posted career records in field goal percentage and rebounds per game.

Raincock-Ekunwe also shattered the conference record of 48 career double-doubles with her 63rd in SFU's 76-59 win over Grand Canyon University that put the Clan into its first-ever West region final.

The 63 double-doubles recorded by Raincock-Ekunwe is also the third-best all-time in the NCAA Div. II, but cannot be recognized because SFU only became an official member of the athletic association this season.

Raincock-Ekunwe began her university career in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports association, helping SFU to a national title in her freshman year.
