The Douglas College Royals gave it their best shot at the PacWest collegiate women's volleyball championships.
The 3-21 Royals took the eventual bronze medal-winning Capilano University Blues to a tiebreak in the opening set before falling 28-26, 25-14, 25-19 in the opening quarter-finals at the provincial championships.
Victoria Hocking led Douglas with 12 kills, 13 digs and one service ace, while Kalena Connors was also active on the court, registering seven kills, three block assists and an ace.
Alicia Catalano had 11 kills and five blocks for the North Shore team.
Vancouver Island University won the women's gold medal.
