Jeff Taylor is one of Canada's heavy college hitters.
The fifth-year outside hitter for the Douglas College Royals was ranked in seventh place in Canadian Colleges' top 10 in overall kills in men's volleball last week.
Taylor, who is second overall in the PacWest behind Columbia Bible College thumper Will Quiring, is currently averaging 4.22 kills per set this season.
The 6-5 Burnaby North grad has made 308 total kills to date.
Last week, the Royal men split a weekend series with defending national champion CBC Bearcats in Abbotsford.
Columbia took the opening game in five sets following an 18-16 tiebreaker.
Douglas won the rematch on Saturday, posting its 15th win of the season with a 25-27, 25-19, 25-13, 25-17 victory over the Bearcats.
Douglas is currently tied for first place with Vanouver Island University in the PacWest men's division.
Another Douglas volleyball player, Kalena Connors, was also among the nation's leaders in blocks.
Connors, a third-year middle at Douglas, was third in the country in individual blocks, averaging one per set.
The sixth-place Douglas women dropped a twogame set to CBC last week.
Both the men's and women's volleyball teams play Camosun College this Friday and Saturday at the New Westminster campus.
In women's volleyball, Douglas extended CBC to five sets before falling 3-2. The Royal women also lost the opener 3-0.
The Douglas College basketball teams failed to record a win on Vancouver Island last week.
Both men's and women's teams lost to Camosun and Vancouver Island university in league play.
