The Royal City Capitals came back from a 4-0 first-period deficit to upset the first-place Ladner Pioneers in the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association last Thursday.
After serving 24 minutes in penalties in the opening period, the New Westminster club got down to business in the middle frame, outscoring the Pioneers 7-2 to take a one-goal lead into the final frame.
Nick Jones and Ryan McEwen both scored two goals in the pivotal second period, while team scoring leader Eric Tuura, Natalino D'Amato and Scott Janssen added single counters.
James Unger and Joe Taylor inked single goals to the Cap's scoresheet to give the visitors a final 9-8 victory at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
Dan Roberts helped out the Capital's cause with four assists, whilke Cody Lewis was huge in goal, stopping 48 ladner shots, including 18 in the final period.
The win kept Royal City in fourth place in the senior B loop.
The Capitals will meet Tri-Cities at home Sunday at Queen's Park Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
