The Terminal City Rollergirls are back bringing actionpacked, fullcontact women’s roller derby
back to New Westminster for a thrilling ninth season. Sports fans of all ages will find fun and excitement in roller derby, which combines big personalities with athletic skill in a battle for points all while racing around a flat track on traditional quad roller skates.
Two preseason doubleheaders kick things off at the Royal City Curling Club on Saturday, April 11.
The Riot Girls taking on the Tournament City Deadlies from Kamloops in the first bout of the evening. The excitement continues with the Faster Pussycats showing their claws to the NWO Rollergirls from Chilliwack. The following Saturday, April 18, Public Frenemy faces off against the Penticton Pistoleras, and the Bad Reputations will challenge another guest team.
The April 25 season opener will feature an intense grudge match between 2013/2014 champions the Riot Girls and last year’s runner-up team, the rookieheavy, yet tenacious Faster Pussycats.
Spectators can then catch the action between the Terminal City AllStars and a special North American appearance by
the Helsinki Roller Derby All-Stars. The TCRG AllStars are currently ranked No. 2 in Canada and Helsinki is ranked No. 6 in Europe, so fans can expect an exciting match.
"Regardless of where these teams are ranked, this will be an incredible opportunity to see international derby at its highest level," said All-Stars head coach Mack The Mouth. "Both teams have many World Cup skaters on their rosters, and both are using this as a warmup to The BIG O, a huge tournament in Eugene, Oregon that attracts teams from around the planet. Not since the AllStars played London (has there been) an opportunity to see derby played at this level."
On May 9, Public Frenemy takes on the Bad Reputations. That night’s headline event will match the brand new TCRG Bteam, the BSide, against Victoria’s Eves of Destruction Ateam. The BSide is a team of highly skilled players from the four TCRG house teams, bridging the gap between those teams and the AllStars. This will be their first home game and surely an exhilarating one.
All bouts are at the Royal City Curling Club, 75 East 6th Ave. in New Westminster. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first whistle is at 6 p.m.
The second game starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10, kids six to 12 $5; all events are familyfriendly, and children under-five get in for free.
Cash and credit cards are accepted at the door; online presales are available at terminalcityrollergirls.com.
Starting at the April 25 bout, fuel up for all the fun with onlocation food trucks; adults can cheer from the beer garden.

Created in 2006, TCRG is a memberowned and operated, nonprofit organization consisting of close to 100 skaters, a team of sharp officials, incredible volunteers, generous sponsors, and an army of passionate fans. TCRG skaters are a group of strong, smart and diverse women, who play hard and train even harder. Four house teams compete annually for the TCRG Mercury Shield: the Bad Reputations, the Faster Pussycats, Public Frenemy and the Riot Girls. The Terminal City AllStars charter team is made up of some of the best skaters in the league and represents Vancouver in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, the international organization that determines global rankings through sanctioned competitions leading up to yearly championships.
