Two New Westminster teams advanced in Coastal Cup action this weekend.
In u-15 girls action, Royal City NW Barcelona beat the Central City Breakers of Surrey 7-1 at Queen's Park on Sunday afternoon.
Surrey actually opened the scoring, on a penalty kick, before the New Westminster squad scored seven unanswered goals.
Carly Cody equalized, dribbling through the Surrey midfield and scoring from the top of the 18-yard-box.
Ally Fabian scored the go-ahead goal after taking a Celeste Bain pass.
The squads headed into the halftime break with only a one-goal margin, but NW Barcelona scored five times in the second half to salt the game away.
Juliet Davies, followed by Fabian's second and Raquel Tjernagel, staked the locals to a 5-1 lead before Davies, with her second, and Naomi Noda, rounded out the scoring.
NW Barca now moves onto the final eight with a match in two weeks against Vancouver FC at Queens Park East.
In u-14 Coastal Boys B Cup action, Royal City Youth Soccer's Westminster United went on the road and beat West Vancouver United 8-1 at Ambleside Park.
Markus Zacharuk had a hat trick for the Royal City squad, including his opener five minutes into the game. New Westminster held control of the ball for the majority of that time before Zacharuk's goal opened the floodgates.
Daniel Johnson had two goals for Westminster United, with singles going to Sterling Tamboline, Dievid Penalver and Ryan Hayes.
Taylor Jensen led a strong Royal City defence, allowing only one goal.
The next opponent for New Westminster will be Vancouver's Killarney AllStars on the weekend of April 14.
