Marchela Fajth of New Westminster was named to the Capital One academic all-district women's soccer first team.

Fajth, who earned an athletic scholarship to Florida Memorial University, started in 11 games in the midfield for the Lions while boasting a 3.75 grade-point average in biology this season. She was also named to the Sun Conference all-academic team.

DARING TO DUAL

New Westminster's Laura Gordon won four of her five matches at the Harry Geris dual wrestling meet championships in London, Ont. last week.

Gordon pinned her opponent in a comeback victory in her opening match in the 59-kilogram women's division.

Gordon then won her next three bouts, including the fourth match by a fall before dropping her final bout against King College.

HYACKS PUB NITE

The Royal City Hyacks youth football program is holding a Pub Night fundraiser this Saturday.

The fundraising event will be held at Frankie G's in Queensborough on Saturday, Nov. 26, beginning at 5 p.m.

A $10 ticket gets you a free drink and chance to win a fabulous door prize.

All proceeds go to Hyacks community league football.
