The Northwest Giants won their final B.C. major midget regular season hockey game 6-3 over the Okanagan Rockets last Sunday.

Jarid Lukosevicius led the way with a pair of goals, while Josh Thrower added a goal and two assists for the first-place Giants.

Brandon Del Grosso and Justin White both chipped in with a single goal and one helper apiece.

Former Northwest Giants forward Sam Reihart scored the overtime winner for the Kootenay Ice in a 5-4 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League play.

The goal was Reinhart's 26th of the season - fourth best in the league among rookies.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 14th goal of the season in his first game back off injury in a 3-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Feb. 25. Nugent-Hopkins also scored in a 5-2 loss to St. Louis on Feb/. 29.

Alan Mazur assisted on five goals for the Ontario Reign in a weekend split with the Colorado Eagles in East Coast hockey. The Burnaby defenceman had two helpers in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Eagles on Feb. 25. Mazur garnered three assists in a wild 9-8 win in a shootout the following day.

New Westminster goalkeeper Matt Hewitt was named a second star for the Regina Pats in an 8-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Feb. 24. The 19-year-old stopped 38 shots to post the win.

Ben Van Lare scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Simon Fraser University club hockey team to a 7-3 win over Thompson Rivers University in B.C. Incollegiate play last weekend.

SFU will be honouring its award winners at Saturday's regular season final game against the University of Victoria at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre at 7 p.m.
