The under-14 New Westminster Warlocks lost an epic two hour and 25 minute marathon final 8-7 in double overtime to Vancouver at the B.C. Tier 2 field lacrosse provincials in Victoria.
Game MVP Laiton Manuel scored two goals and added one assist, while Enzo Gentile led the team with three markers in a four-point outing to help New West earn the silver medal. Goalie Nikolas Lund-Murray was named the tournament MVP.
The Warlocks finished the round-robin with a 3-0 record, including an earlier 5-4 win over the eventual champions. Frank Darby popped in the game-winning goal with just 30 seconds left in the match.
In the crossover matchup, New West edged Mission 7-6 on Manuel's game-winner in the final 10 seconds of play.
New West also soundly defeated Mid Island 10-0 in the opening game.
In the team's second game, the Warlocks beat Burnaby 7-4 behind the solid play of game MVP and fair play award winner Naoll Degife. Junior coach Serafino Gentile was named fair play coach.
