As the university softball season winds to an end, New West native Grace Wardle is getting ready to finish her first season with the Graceland Yellowjackets.

The university freshman posted a strong first season for Graceland University’s softball team in Iowa. Defensively, the centre fielder had 46 put outs in her first season and was in the starting line up for 27 of the 32 games played by the Yellowjackets so far. At bat, Wardle posted a batting average of .342 with two homeruns and 13 runs batted in.

Despite the freshman’s honourable effort, the Yellowjackets are ranked eighth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with a 6-10 record. The team wraps up its season on the road in Missouri against third-place team Evangel University on Saturday.
