The junior B New Westminster Salmonbellies are hoping to close out the regular season with a win over Maple Ridge.
The junior squad, coached by Drew Duncan, Jordan Catton and Matt Esaw, lost a narrow 11-10 decision to Surrey last week, before eking out a 2-1 victory over the North Shore on Jackson Treanor's game-winner from James McKenzie at Karen Magnussen rec centre on July 5.
Jordan Smith scored New West's first goal, while goalie Spencer England stopped 45 shots in the Salmonbellies' cage.
In Queen's Park, David Hammond tallied a hat trick in a four-point outing, while Treanor also had four points, including a pair of goals.
James Mckenzie played a strong game of defense as well as scoring an unassisted breakaway goal. Hudson Ducummun balanced the score sheet with a goal and an assist. Kyle Peterson scored a solo goal, which was smoothly assisted by Owen Munro. Justin Pash opened the scoring for the junior B 'Bellies. Other assists came from Ian Hamm and Colton Schell.
The fifth-place junior B 'Bellies close out the regular season in Maple Ridge on Wednesday.
