Eighty-eight of the top men and women lawn bowlers from across British Columbia will compete Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the New West Club on Eighth Street with the hopes of representing B.C. at the 2014 Canadian championships in Winnipeg from August 17 to 23.
Women vying to have their team bowl in the gold-medal match on Sunday include Team Canada member Pricilla Westlake, 2014 Canadian mixed pairs champion Marie Taylor, and 2013 B.C. Bowls members Jenny Siu, Shirley Lai, Diane Fulton and On Kow Au.
Headlining the Men’s event are 2014 Canadian singles bronze medalist Michael Leong and all four members of the 2013 Canadian national fours championship team - legendary White Rock bowler Christie Graham, David Baldwin, James Chen and Stanley Chow.
Spectators are welcome. Draws are scheduled for 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
