Coquitlam downs Salmonbellies 14-7 in opening game of BC Junior Lacrosse League semifinal

Jean-Luc Chetner struck for three goals in the second period to send the Coquitlam Adanacs on their way to a 14-7 victory over the New Westminster Salmonbellies in Game 1 of the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League best-of-five semifinal on Wednesday.

Chetner's first of four goals on the night broke open a tight 6-4 first-period advantage for the regular season champs. Coquitlam parlayed the momentum into a five-goal lead later in the middle frame.

Chetner led all scorers with six points, including the game-winning goal midway through the second period. League scoring champ Cole Shafer chipped in with five points.

Jeremy Bosher was the best of the 'Bellies assisting on four New West markers.

Christian Del Bianco was at his best, stopping 44 shots in the Coquitlam cage with a 0.863 save percentage.

Game 2 of the series happens on Saturday afternoon at Queen's Park Arena. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
