New Westminster's Ellen Colbourne and Sophie Jones enjoyed a bronze medal with B.C. White at the under-18 national women's field hockey championships in Calgary on Sunday.
Team White, one of three provincial teams from B.C. entered in the junior nationals, defeated B.C. Yellow 4-1 in the consolation final. Colbourne and company lost to eventual national champion B.C. Blue 4-1 in the semifinals. B.C. Blue defeated Ontario by a similar 4-1 score in the gold-medal final, also played on Sunday.
Colbourne scored two goals in a lop-sided win over Alberta's u-16 team during the five-day tournament. Team White finished the round-robin portion of the tournament in second place to Ontario in Pool B.
B.C. Blue topped Pool A with a 4-0-0 record. Team Yellow placed ahead of Alberta to take second place in pool play.
