New Westminster big stick Matt MacGrotty helped the Bryant Bulldogs to their first-ever Northeast conference field lacrosse title.
MacGrotty, who is second on the NCAA Division I team in caused turnovers, had two more in Bryant's 12-6 victory over Mount St. Mary's in the championship conference game in Moon Township, Pennsylvania on Sunday. The win improved the Bulldogs record this season to 14-4 and gave Bryant the school's very first conference championship in any sport.
Goal scorer all-conference first team
Keegan Bowman was one of eight players from Carthage College to earn All-Midwest field lacrosse conference honours. Bowman, who finished second nationally in NCAA Div. III goal scoring was selected to the conference first team. The New Westminster product had 50 goals and 48 ground balls.
New West pair on all-region team
Midfielder Brandon Goodwin and goalie Blake Duncan were two of six ASA College field lacrosse players named to the NCAA junior college all-region team.
Goodwin, a first team selection, was second on the team with 41 goals, while leading the team in assists with 35. Duncan received a second-team nod and was ranked second overall in the nation in goals saved with 251.
