The New Westminster Hyack girls finished a disappointing runner-up at the St. Thomas More junior varsity basketball tournament last week.
The JV Hyacks, 17-point winners over the Knight girls at the Bob Gair Classic last month, fell 42-20 to the Chancellor hosts in the tournament final on Saturday.
Celia Palmer led the Hyacks with nine points.
New Westminster had high hopes after upsetting No. 5-ranked Seycove 36-34 in a semifinal.
All-tournament all-star Sarah Forgie registered a double-double with a team-high 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
Forgie added 19 points in New West’s opening 54-27 win over Archbishop Carney. Palmer chipped in with 15 points and Devin Strome added 10.
The 18-4 New West juniors are at the Holy Cross tournament this weekend.
