The Grandview Steelers are holding on to the possibility of a final playoff spot by the skin of their teeth.

The Grandview Steelers are holding on to the possibility of a final playoff spot by the skin of their teeth.

The Burnaby-based Steelers overcame a three-goal comeback from the Delta Ice Hawks, hanging on to a 5-4 victory on Kyle Golz's game-winner at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Tuesday.

The Steelers are currently in last place, two points behind the North Vancouver Wolf Pack which is currently holding on to the fourth-place playoff berth in the Pacific International Junior Hockey League's Tom Shaw conference.

A few days earlier, Grandview did itself no favours, failing to hang on to a two-goal lead against the North Delta Devils.

In the game, the Steelers gave up three goals in the final period before falling 5-4 at the Burnaby Winter Club on Sunday. Tuesday's game had some similarities.

Grandview took a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the matchup and took a three-goal advantage into the final period following single goals by Joel Gaudet, Vik Sanghera, Christopher Busto and Joey Santucci.

Goltz's goal, his team-leading 16th this season, came with just over five minutes left in the game.

North Vancouver kept ahead of the Steelers with a 2-0 victory over North Delta on Wednesday.

The two teams will meet Saturday at the Harry Jerome Rec Centre in North Vanouver for what could prove to be the game of the year for both clubs. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
