Jr. 'Bellies romp past Isles

Tally 20 twice against Delta

The New Westminster Jr. Salmonbellies enjoyed their final regular-season home game of 2017 with a 23-7 romp over the Delta Islanders on Tuesday.

It was the fourth consecutive win for the second-place ’Bellies giving them a 15-4-0 record. That sets up a showdown in Coquitlam against the first-place Adanacs (17-1-0) Friday (7:30 p.m.). New West’s final game of the season will be in Burnaby on Sunday (Copeland Arena, 7 p.m.). The Lakers were 4-12-1 heading into their game in Coquitlam on Wednesday.

Carter Dickson led the point parade for the Salmonbellies with eight, including two goals. Connor Robinson racked up seven with three goals and four assists. Jayden Campbell and Nick Chaykowsky had four goals and Charlie Kurtenbach picked up a hat trick.

The ’Bellies also beat the Isles 20-7 in Delta last Thursday. Robinson sniped four goals and added six assists while Jeremy Bosher collected five goals and two assists. Dickson scored three times and assisted on another. Other New West goals were scored by Campbell, Lupul, Chaykowsky, Bykowsky, Jacob Patterson, Campbell, Jordon McKenzie, Josh Bosher, and Cole Catton.

The goaltending was shared by Erik Kratz, who made 31 saves, and Jr. B call-up Nik Lund-Murray, who stopped nine of 12 shots and had an assist in the 13 minutes he played.
