Nearly 30 Olympic standards were met at the Harry Jerome International Track Classic last weekend.
Canadian athletes achieved 16 of the 29 Olympic standards at the Sunday meet, which kicked off the National Track League season in the Pacific Northwest.
Among the most notable were five Olympic A standards, including four by Canadians.
Liz Gleadle highlighted the meet with a new Canadian record throw of 61.15 metres in the women's javelin.
New Westminster's Krista Woodward placed runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 53.27m.
Canadian shotputter and Commonwealth gold medalist Dylan Armstrong also had an A toss of 21.24m.
Simon Fraser University grad Jessica Smith became just the fourth Canadian runner to break the two-minute barrier in the 800m, matching the A standard with an exciting first-place finish time of 1: 59.86, beating American Alice Schmidt by less than onetenth of a second.
In the 100m hurdles, heptathlete Jessica Zelinka of Calgary finished first in an impressive field, posting a new personal best and reaching A standard with a 12.76 clocking.
Zelinka beat out American runner-up Ginnie Crawford and former Olympic medal winner Perdita Felicien, who both also ran under 13 seconds.
Anglea Whyte and Nikkita Holder of Canada both posted B times in the women's hurdle sprint.
In the women's 800m, Melissa Bishop and Lemlem Ogbasilassie also made B standard times, while former Commonwealth Games medallist Diane Cummins finished in a time of 2: 01.11 to also make the Olympic standard.
Nicole Sifuentes of Winnipeg won the women's 1,500m in a B standard time of 4: 06.90.
Mélanie Blouin of Québec won the women's pole vault with a B standard jump of 4.40m.
Ontario's Sultana Frizell won the hammer throw with B standard distance of 69.74m.
Three Canadian men also made B standard, including 25-year-old Burnaby javelin thrower Curtis Moss, who surpassed 80 metres twice during the meet. Moss won the event with a personal-best throw of 80.43m.
High jumper Mike Mason won his field event at 2.28m, while Geoff Harris on Nova Scotia also met standard with a fourth-place time of 1: 46.29 in the 800m.
Canada's track and field Grand Prix series continues this weekend in Edmonton.
