First all-tournament team star Ariana Sider led the New Westminster Hyacks to fifth place at the Century 21 girls' basketball tourney at W.J. Mouat on Saturday.
Sider tallied a total of 96 points in four games, including 32 in New West's 56-48 victory over honourable mention Kelowna in the final placement game.
Team player of the game Kelsey Lonergan added nine points in the win.
The Hyacks opened the Mouat tourney with a 58-29 win over Heritage Park.
Four players scored in double figures, including Meriam Ali with 12 points and Jettie Mclaughlin and Sharmaine Hayley, who tallied 10 apiece.
The Hyacks also defeated another honourable mention school, Fleetwood Park, 67-46 behind a monster game from Sider, who garnered 35 points in the win.
New Westminster's only loss was a 69-42 defeat to No. 2 ranked Riverside.
In high school boys' basketball, the New Westminster Hyacks placed second overall at the North Delta Ed Terris Memorial tournament.
Host North Delta topped the Hyacks 76-60 in the championship final on Saturday.

The Byrne Creek Bulldogs finished ahead of three ranked teams at the North Shore Invitational high school basketball tournament last week.
The Bulldogs lost 78-70 to No. 6-ranked Kitsilano Blue Demons in the thirdplace final at Balmoral Secondary on Saturday.
Byrne Creek's Kennedy George led all scorers with 24 points, while teammate David Majstorovic chipped in with 16 points.
George was named a first team all-star. Second team all-star Jada Lado was named player of the game in Byrne Creek's opening 74-52 win over Dover Bay.
