The New Wesminster Hyacks capped off its varsity spring training camp with a 21-21 result against Blaine High School in Washington State last Friday night.
Angelo Tanjuaquio scored a pair of touchdowns, from 60 and 36 yards, while Eric Teng also scored on a 26 yd. romp.
Kaeden Hnatiw had five tackles, including two sacks, and a tackle for a loss.
In all, the defense garnered four sacks. Jordan Chin was very good on both sides of the ball, finishing with five tackles. Other sharp performances came from Harper Sherman, who played half the scrimmage, before leaving for the Nike Combine and Camp in Oregon.
Nelson Kaplan, Prabh Bal and Greg Johnston showed improvement on offense. Sonu Kainth, Leo Kubotani and Bryce Davies raised their stock on defense.
"More than anything, I was really pleased with our depth. Our second and third units fared well against some good competition, and it puts us in a better position in the fall to deal with the rigours of a tough AAA schedule," said Hyacks head coach Farhan Lalji.
"Our defense showed they really wanted to get after the football. We have installed a new system, so there is still a lot of learning going on, but the tackling and intensity has definitely improved."
