New Westminster’s Harper Sherman was named to the B.C. Secondary School Football provincial AAA all-star team on Tuesday.
The Grade 11 6-5, 250-pound New Westminster Hyack was selected on the offensive line. Harper is the only Hyack on the provincial team.
St. Thomas More’s Malcolm Lee was named to the provincial offensive team at running back, while linebacker Noah Usherwood made it on the defensive team.
Mt. Douglas running back Marcus Davis was named the AAA player of the year, while W.J. Mouat running back Maleek Irons was chosen the MVP on offence.
Mt. Doug’s 6-5 defensive end Zach Wilkinson took the defensive MVP award.
Mt. Doug and Terry Fox topped the list with seven selections each.
Lord Tweedsmuir’s Austin Thornton was named the academic player of the year.
Notre Dame’s Blake Pickard and Aldrich Berrios, who also earned an all-star selection at defensive back, also earned B.C. high school football scholarships.
