Madisen Obrovac and Justice Steer scored a dozen points apiece to lead the New Westminster Hyacks to a 57-16 win over Maple Ridge in its season-opening junior girls’ basketball game.
Emma Forgie also chipped in with eight points to defeat the Fraser Valley school at Massey Gym on Monday.
In the senior game that followed, New Westminster fell 63-34 to Maple Ridge.
Sonia Heer led the Hyacks with nine points, while Lauren Denusik and Hannah DeVos had six and five points, respectively.
The Hyacks are both at home against Killarney on Nov. 27, beginning with the juniors at 3:45 p.m.
