The New Westminster Hyacks will play host to the BurWest high school girls' basketball championships next week.

The No. 7-ranked Hyacks completed an undefeated regular season in the BNW district with a resounding 73-14 victory over Moscrop on Wednesday.

Ariana Sider and Amanda Zacharuk led the charge with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Jaylen Catton also contributed 10 points to the win.

Earlier in the week, New West defeated Burnaby North 78-23. Meriam Ali led the way with 16 points.

New Westminster will play the winner of the fourth and fifth seeds on Monday, Feb. 13 at 6: 45 p.m.

Runner-up Burnaby South will take on the winner of the No. 6 seed and third-place Byrne Creek. in the earlier Monday matchup at 5: 15 p.m.

The two winners of the semifinals will play off in the district final on Wednesday at 6: 45 p.m.

FINAL GAME AT NEW TIME

The BurWest boys' basketball championships should be a showdown between New Westminster, Byrne Creek and Burnaby South, all of which have enjoyed a provincial ranking this season.

Byrne Creek currently holds the upper hand in league standings with an unbeaten record and just one game left on the slate against South.

That game will be played at Burnaby South on Friday at a rescheduled time of 3: 30 p.m.
