The Glenbrook Middle School bantam girls' basketball team won the school's first district title in nine years.
Glenbrook won the banner following a 43-30 victory over Burnaby Central.
Maddie Obrovac led Glenbrook in the championship final with nine points, including three from the free-throw line.
The Glenbrook team steamrolled over Moscrop 34-14 in the quarter-finals and 38-18 over New Westminster Secondary en route to the championship final.
Katie Bruyneel and Emma Forgie were named to the tournament all-star team.
The New Westminster girls fashioned an unbeaten record during the regular season with an average point spread of more than 36 points.
The championship title marks the first time a Glenbrook team has gone undefeated in the league and playoffs.
It is also just the second time in any team sport that Glenbrook has won a BurWest banner.
All other district championships won by a Glenbrook team came in the sport of track and field.
The team's only losses this season came at a Grade 8 girls' tournament in Pitt Meadows, where they were beaten by Khalsa and Fraser Academy.
With the district win, Glenbrook earned the right to host the upcoming Vancouver and District Grade 8 girls' championships.
Glenbrook will look to post its first-ever win at the V&Ds when it plays its opening game on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
