B.C. Superweek started off in Delta this week. On Thursday it's Burnaby's turn.
The Giro di Burnaby is back on the streets of Burnaby Heights on July 12, starting off with the women's criterium at 6 p.m. The men's race is to follow at approximately 7: 15 p.m.
With a total cash purse of $15,000 up for grabs, the two-wheeled competition should be exciting.
The men's winner will earn a top prize of $2,000, while the winning female rider will take home $1,200, not including individual race primes, and pronounced preems.
Both race winners will also receive a gold medallion from title sponsor Palladio Jewellers worth an estimated $1,300.
The Giro course is a 1.3-kilometre loop along Hastings and Albert streets between Madison and MacDonald avenues.
