The Northwest Giants gave up second place in the B.C. major midget hockey league following a weekend matchup with the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
The Giants earned just a single point in the twogame series at the Burnaby Winter Club.
The two teams skated to a 2-2 draw on Saturday night, but the Canadians eked out a 2-1 win the following morning on goals by Tyler Sandhu and Matthew Ho.
Eric Margo tallied the Giants' lone goal midway through the final period on Sunday in a belated comeback bid.
On Saturday, the hosts came back from a 1-0 deficit with goals by Justin Wite and a first-period powerplay marker from Joseph Carvalho.
But Walter Mitchell tied the contest for Greater Vancouver just one minute later.
The two teams played a scoreless third period.
With the win Greater Vancouver leap-frogged the Giants into second place.
Cariboo continues to lead the standings with a record of 8-4-2.
