The Simon Fraser University Clan soccer team won't be going undefeated this year after losing 2-1 to the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders at Fox Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Clan had won their first five games by convincing margins, but Saturday's loss ends the Clan's dream of a perfect, undefeated season.

Morris is the former Miami Dolphins running back who is famous for cracking open a bottle of champagne whenever the last undefeated NFL team loses a game. Morris was a member of the 1972 Fish squad that played an entire season without losing, and that's a feat that is just as difficult in a sport like soccer.

"It's a very disappointing result," Clan head coach Alan Koch said in a press release. "We weren't at our best and we didn't deal with a little bit of adversity very well at all. I think we can learn a lot from the way NNU came in here and played. They had a good approach to the game and we have to have the same mental approach."

It was the first loss for the SFU men's soccer team since Nov. 21, 2010 and it also marked the end of the Clan's 24-game unbeaten streak, which ties a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record.

Despite being outshot 22-10, the Crusaders were opportunistic, managing to find the back of the net twice.

Daniel Clark opened the scoring in the 72nd minute for Northwest Nazarene, with an assist going to Jaime Torres.

The Crusaders extended their lead 15 minutes later, as Torres was the goal scorer, on an assist from Emerson Peredo.

The Clan made the last couple of minutes interesting, as Chris Bargholz headed in the Clan's only goal in the 89th minute.

With the loss, SFU's record falls to 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

The Clan had opened the week with a 2-0 home win over the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets on Sept. 13.

Bargholz and John Hodnett got the Clan goals while J.D. Blakley earned his second shutout of the season in the SFU net.

SFU will be back in action when they travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to face their newest GNAC rival, the University of Sioux Falls on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. www.twitter.com/AlfieLau
