The collegiate Royals swept a two-game series from the University of the Fraser Valley by a similar 3-0 score at the New Westminster campus gym last Friday and Saturday.

Despite the flu bug reducing the Royals' roster to 10 players, Douglas jumped out to a 20-5 lead first-quarter lead against VIU and didn't let up.

Amonda Francis led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Patti Olson and rookie Taylor Carle contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively, to the score-line.

Against Camosun, Douglas led for all but two minutes in the game, but just six points in the final quarter allowed the Victoria school to mount a comeback. The Royals shot just 32 per cent from the floor and were a dismal 44 per cent at the foul line.

Francis finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
