Kate Weir placed fifth overall in the women's individual standings at the Canadian Colleges' national golf championships in Oshawa, Ont.
The third-year Douglas College student fired a three-round 244 to finish 24 shots back of runaway leader Valérie Tanquay of Champlain-St. Lawrence, who was the only golfer to shoot an under-par round. Tanquay carded a five-under 67 on the final day to edge Katherine Gravel-Coursol by five strokes.
Weir opened with an 85 but improved in each of the next two rounds, finishing off with rounds of 81 and 78.
Jennifer Woods of the University of B.C. Okanagan placed fourth overall four shots up on Weir.
