Harmeet Mahal led Douglas College Royals to a 78-74 victory over Langara College in PacWest men's basketball action last Friday.
Mahal scored a game-high 21 points, including the game-saving bucket off a steal in the final moments of the match.
Royals Devan Haynes and Harpreet Randhawa both posted double-doubles for the 3-2 Royals. Haynes finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Randhawa added 10 points and as many boards.
Douglas moved into fifth place in the PacWest with a 96-88 win over Kwantlen University on Saturday.
STANDING PAT
Matt Hewitt of New Westminster stopped 23 shots to help lead the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League to a 5-2 win over the Everett Silvertips on Nov. 25.
Northwest Giants product Jordan Weal was named the game's first star with two goals, including the eventual game-winner in the opening period, in a threee-point outing for the Pats.
FIRE ON THE ICE
The Simon Fraser University hockey team will be playing an exhibition charity game against the Burnaby Firefighters at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Saturday, Dec. 17.
All proceeds will benefit the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society's nutritional snack program for local schools.
Following the game, there will be a public skate with the firefighters and SFU hockey players, so bring your skates.

WAM, BAM
The Lower Mainland Thunder moved into sole possession of second place in the Western conference of the National Ringette League with a pair of wins over the Edmonton WAM on Nov. 26.
The Thunder defeated Edmonton 9-7 and 11-5.
