Douglas College lost its quarter-final matchup with the Camosun Chargers in PacWest men's provincial basketball playoffs on Thursday.
Douglas dropped a 6862 decision to the No. 3 seeded Chargers.
Harpreet Randhawa led Douglas with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Harmeet Mahal and Ravi Athwal both collected a dozen points for the Royals, Mike Zanidean also finished in double figures with 10.
Douglas outscored the Victoria college 17-2 off turnovers and had a 6-0 advantage on secondchance points, but lost the war from beyond the arc. Camosun made good on 44 per cent of its three-ball attempts, nailing eightof18 from beyond the arc to advance to the semifinals.
League runner-up University of Northern B.C. upset Vancouver Island University 69-62 in the men's final.
UNBC also defeated VIU in the women's basketball final 62-53.
In first-round women's playoff basketball, both Quest University and host Kwantlen failed to move on.
Former Byrne Creek guard Andrea Eidsvik had seven points, four rebounds and three assists for Quest in a 67-58 loss to Camosun in quarter-final play.
Moscrop grad Oxana Senyuk posted five points, including a perfect threefor-three at the foul line, in Kwantlen's 84-59 loss to No. 3 seed Capilano Blues.
CAP TO BRONZE
Alicia Catalano of Burnaby helped Capilano University to a bronze medal at the PacWest provincial girls' volleyball championships last week.
The St. Thomas More Collegiate middle hitter had eight kills and two block assists in Cap's threeset victory over Columbia Bible College in the consolation final.
Catalano had seven kills, three blocks and seven block assists in a 4-1 win over the University of the Fraser Valley in semifinal play.
Freshman Sarah Hughes also helped out Capilano with three kills, three service aces and two digs.
Capilano opened the provincials with a straight-set win over Douglas. Catalano led the Blues with 11 kills and five blocked shots.
Burnaby North grad Kalena Connors had seven kills for Douglas. Setter Natalie Grendovich of Burnaby had five digs, four block assists and a single kill in the loss.
