First year Vancouver Stealth forward Tyler Digby was named the National Lacrosse League rookie of the month.
The 2013 first-round Burnaby Lakers draft pick led all rookies with nine goals, 10 assists for the month of January.
“He’s doing what we expected,” said Stealth head coach Chris Hall in a prepared release. “We knew we had a good draft choice when we got him, and he has really accomplished everything we’ve expected of him, and I expect him to continue to grow and get even better.”
The New Westminster native has collected at least two points per game and is currently fourth overall in team scoring with 22 points.
“He’s got great size, great hands, works hard and he’s tough to handle in front of the net, added Hall.
Digby has registered two hat tricks so far this season, and has scored at least one goal in every game but one sofar.
The 6-3 righthander scored three goals and added three assists in his NLL debut against the Colorado Mammoth in January.
Digby and company will be at the Langley Events Centre this Saturday to meet the Avalanche for a third time this season. The teams have split the first two games.
Game time is 7 p.m.
