Emily Chilton picked up a well-deserved gold in the 800-metres, leading the medal haul for the Royal City Track and Field Club at the Van Ryswyk Indoor Invitational in Kamloops last week.
It was the first charge of the track and field brigade this indoor season, with four silver and three bronze part of the two-day event.
Chilton, 17, added a silver in 400m in junior girls, while Finn Cookson, 16, scored silver in junior boys 400m and a bronze in long jump. He finished fifth in 60m.
In midget boys, Max Jones picked up silver with a long jump, and added a bronze in 60m dash. Ryan Jensen collected a silver in 60m hurdles placed fourth in long jump and fifth in 60m dash.
Emma Dolman netted a bronze in midget girls 800m, placed fourth in 1200m and 5th in 300m.
“The hard work athletes have been putting into their winter training sessions is evident and they are right on track for this early in the season which will set them up for accomplishing (personal bests) and strong performances in their competitions later in the season,” said RCTFC head coach Sean Dixon.
