Playing in just its second-ever MLL final, Boston won its celebrated its first championship title before more than 5,000 spectators at Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.

SHUTOUT WIN

New Westminster product Cara Santaga made seven saves to earn a 2-0 shutout for Trinity Western University over Concordia University in exhibition varsity women's soccer in Portland, Oregon on Aug. 27.

In men's soccer, Burnaby goalie Andrew Fink earned the win for TWU in a 52 exhibition win over Warner Pacific College last Saturday.

FIRST NAT GOAL

Andrew Kanerva of the Burnaby Field Hockey Club led Canada's under21 national team with three goals in a four-game series against the United States.

Adrien D'andrade, one of six Burnaby club players named to the junior national squad, scored his first goal for Canada on a penalty corner in a 3-1 win in the final match on Saturday. Canada finished with a record of 1-2-1.
