Canada lost its opening exhibition game against Finland leading up to the International Ice Hockey Federation world junior championships in Ufa, Russia on Boxing Day.
The Canadians fell 3-2 to the Finns in Vantaa, Finland on Thursday. Former Northwest Giants defenceman Griffin Reinhart tied the score 1-1 early in the middle period. Half a minute later, Mark Schiefele, on an assist from team captain Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, gave the Canadians a short-lived one-goal advantage.
Canada will play Sweden in Helsinki on Saturday in its final exhibition game before the worlds. The junior worlds begin on Dec. 26.
