New Westminster's Jackson Schaefer helped Canada's youth 17-andunder men's water polo team to a fifth-place finish at the Pan American championships in Puerto Rico Aug. 3 to 14.
Canada finished with a 3-3 record, including a 10-5 win over round-robin runner-up Colombia.
Brazil placed first in the seven-country competition, winning all six of its matches.
The Canadians lost narrowly to fourth-place Trinidad-Tobago 8-6 and to third-place United States 5-4.
