The New Westminster Little Leaguers won another minor baseball tournament last week.
The Blue Jays won the Coquitlam Mackin Yard Invitational, giving the major A ball team its second tournament title and third final appearance in three weekend competitions this season.
The Jays took to the field last Saturday afternoon and made relatively short work of the hometown Coquitlam Yankees, winning 9-0.
The following day, the Jays earned a 4-1 victory over the 2014 national champions from South Vancouver and playing solid defence and receiving great pitching.
The second game on Sunday saw New West face Little Mountain and this one was over early with the Jays prevailing 17-1.
The Jays faced the Coquitlam Red Sox in the Victoria Day final and jumped out to an early lead when Oscar Porcellato crushed a fastball with a man on that would measure close to 300 feet over the center field fence for a two-run homer in the opening inning.
Jalen Sami was nothing short of fantastic throughout the tourney and knocked in two more runs for the Jays. New West used Sami, Trevor Tong, Max Yuen and Nick Young on the mound before taking home the trophy with an 11-3 win.
