The New Westminster Salmonbellies are one game away from the Western Lacrosse Association final.

The three-time defending B.C. champions took a stranglehold on the bestof-seven semifinal series following an 11-7 victory over the Burrards in Maple Ridge Tuesday.

New Westminster currently leads the series 3-1.

Game five of the series was played on Thursday (after Record deadlines).

The senior A Salmonbellies overcame three twogoal deficits in the middle stanza before notching three quick counters in a one-minute span later in the period.

Corbyn Tao, who tallied three times for New West in Game 3, counted a pair of goals sandwiched between Jeff Zywicki's third goal of the playoffs to put the visitors into the lead.

In the final frame, first-star Martin Cummings added to New Westminster's advantage with the club's first of three power-play goals in the period.

Matt Roik got the win in goal for the 'Bellies, stopping 29 Maple Ridge shots.

Curtis Dickson led all scorers with four goals in a five-point effort for the Burrards.

The possibility of a quick end to the series was not lost upon New Westminster head coach Ken Thomas.

"You want a series to end as quickly as they can be, but you have to take care of business," Thomas said, adding that with the parity in the league this season, no team can be taken for granted.

"We've been battling really hard. . But every night is a battle. The other series was a four-banger, but there wasn't an easy game in that one."

If necessary, a Game 5 will be played at Cam Neely Arena in Maple Ridge tonight (Friday). Game time is 7: 45 p.m.
