The New Westminster atom A1 Royals did some cross-border shopping, returning home with a hunk of hardware.
The hockey squad captured the Everett junior Silvertips youth hockey tournament, beating Semiahmoo 7-2 in the final to cap a five-win march.
New West launched the three-day tourney with an 8-1 triumph over Coquitlam, with Jack Phelan earning the game's MVP award. They followed that by defeating Everett 7-2, as Ryan Black picked up the MVP honours.
In similar fashion, the Royals rolled to a 10-1 decision over Seafair in their third game, getting an MVP performance from Brady Schnurr.
Facing Arbutus in the semifinal, New West surrendered the first goal but stormed back with a 10-4 victory. Shae Long was chosen the game MVP.
Against Semiahmoo in the final, Josh Narain was picked the MVP. Leading the team over the five games offensively were Mitchell Nash and Oliver Nottingham, who tallied 12 points apiece.
