Athletes medal at B.C. jamboree

The New West Spartans Ethan Strome, Mihailo Stefanovic, Ahmad Nizamani and Bogdan Pavel were riding high again at the B.C. track and field championship jamboree in Coquitlam last weekend.

The New West Spartans Ethan Strome, Mihailo Stefanovic, Ahmad Nizamani and Bogdan Pavel were riding high again at the B.C. track and field championship jamboree in Coquitlam last weekend.

Stefanovic, Strome and Pavel swept the gold, silver and bronze in the 200metre hurdles. Strome and Pavel then changed places behind Stefanovic in the 100m hurdles.

Stefanovic and Pavel also placed second and third, respectively in the triple jump.

Nizamani won the long jump with a personal-best 6.25m.

Jemal Reta won the 2,000m and was second in the 1,200m in personal-best times.

Simran Rai won the 3,000m race walk, shaving 35 seconds off her PB. Sister Damanpreet Rai was second in the long jump and third in the 100m hurdles.

New Westminster's Natasha Lazecki, running for Kajaks, won the youth girls' 100m hurdles in 15.24.

Lazecki also took bronze medals in both the long and triple jumps with PB efforts.
