If you missed a good party on Dec. 31, there's another new year event coming up that you can check out to have some fun.
The New Westminster Chinese Society is organizing a Year of the Snake party with dancing, performances and refreshments for members and newcomers alike on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Five Stones Church, at 612 Columbia St. in New Westminster.
Between 150 and 200 people are expected to turn out for the festivities, said Pengling He, president of the society.
"Old friends, new friends (will) gather together," he said.
The society has invited two professional singers and a dancer who recently arrived from China to perform, and there will also be amateur performances and music so guests can dance.
There will also be a selection of catered food and drinks in a separate "social" room.
Tickets are $5 at the door.
