The sun continues to shine but the first official day of autumn is this weekend - on Saturday, Sept. 22.
To help you stay busy this weekend when we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall, we're offering our staff's suggestions for the Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. Here are our suggestions for the Sept. 21 to 23 weekend.
1 Take a spin on the ice at Moody Park Arena - at no charge. The Thrifty Foods family skate features free admission and free rental equipment.
The fun takes place on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 6: 30 to 8 p.m. at 701 Eighth Ave.
2 Try your luck in the Royal City Curling Club's poker tournament, a fundraiser for the Westcoast Curling Classic that comes to town in October. Tickets for the poker tournament are $70 (maximum of 100 to be sold).
Registration takes place at 6 p.m. and the tournament starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 75 East Sixth Ave. For information, email [email protected].
3 Support the activities of a local charity that offers programs and services that help children who are blind or visually impaired to reach their full potential. Blind Beginnings is holding a pub night fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Paddlewheeler Pub at River Market (#126-810 Quayside Dr.).
The fundraiser gets underway at 5: 30 p.m. and includes raffle prizes, toonie tosses, a 50-50 draw and more.

4 Enjoy a pancake breakfast and open house at Shiloh Sixth Avenue United Church.

5 Clean up the Fraser River shoreline during the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup event being held in Queensborough.
This year's South Dyke Road riverfront cleanup will take place on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 9: 30 a.m. to noon.
The family-friendly event gets underway at the pier at Suzuki Street and South Dyke Road in Queensborough at 9: 30 a.m. For more information, visit www.nwep.ca.
