1Check out the fun on 12th Street at the 12th Street Music Festival, which takes place on Sunday, Aug. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The West End Business Association organizes the event, which includes live entertainment on three stages, a kids zone and venders.

The festival takes place on 12th Street between Sixth and 10th avenues.

2 Explore the Fraser River aboard the MV Native, an authentic paddlewheeler that's modeled on ships that traveled B.C. in bygone eras. Discover the Fraser cruises take place every Saturday and Sunday from 11: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Friday Night Fun Cruises run every Friday through Sept. 28 from 7: 30 to 10: 30 p.m. For more information about cruise costs and itineraries, and reservations, visit www. vancouverpaddlewheeler. com.

com. 3 Beat the heat and take to the ice at Moody Park Arena, which is holding five loonie skates each week, including Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is $1 and skate rentals are $2 for all sessions. In addition to the Sunday session, you can drop by on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12: 30 to 2: 30 p.m. and on Monday nights from 6: 30 to 8 p.m.
